The FAIRNESS project officially began with a two-day Kick-off Meeting held on 20–21 October 2022 in Valletta, where our team was represented.
Hosted by the project coordinator, the Malta Stock Exchange Institute at its iconic building, the meeting brought together six organisations from Malta, Austria, Cyprus, Italy and Bulgaria, who discussed the project’s objectives, implementation approach, responsibilities, work packages and the first steps of the collaboration.
FAIRNESS – Financial Skills for Business Start-ups and SMEs, responds to the challenges faced by SMEs, entrepreneurs and family-run businesses across Europe with many smaller businesses having limited access to practical financial knowledge, experience difficulties in identifying suitable financing options and lack the tools needed to assess their financial and organisational needs.
These challenges have become increasingly important as businesses also navigate digital transformation, changing market conditions and the need for more sustainable business practices.
Through comparative research, practical training resources, an interactive self-assessment tool and a digital learning platform, FAIRNESS will help businesses strengthen their financial-management capabilities, better understand available sources of finance and make more informed decisions about their development and growth.
The Kick-off Meeting established a strong foundation for the partnership and marked the beginning of a two-year European collaboration focused on accessible financial education and sustainable SME development.
