On 27–28 April 2023, Vernian RTI hosted the second transnational meeting of the “FAIRNESS – Financial Skills for Business Start-ups and SMEs” project in Nicosia.
The meeting brought together our consortium partners from Malta, Austria, Cyprus, Italy and Bulgaria to review the progress achieved and coordinate the next stages of the project.

The consortium partners focused on the work undertaken to map and assess the financial and capital solutions available to SMEs and family-run businesses in each participating country.
All partners presented and reviewed their national research, stakeholder engagement and analysis of financing conditions, requirements, costs and accessibility, while they also discussed the gaps and differences identified across the participating jurisdictions.
The consortium also worked on the consolidation of the comparative findings that would support the next project developments. These included the design of the FAIRNESS self-assessment approach, the preparation of the training methodology and learning content, and the development of the interactive digital platform that would help businesses better understand their financial needs and identify relevant financing options.

The Nicosia meeting also provided an important opportunity to validate the progress achieved, strengthen coordination among partners and agree on the practical steps required to transform the project’s research into accessible and useful tools for SMEs, entrepreneurs and family-run businesses across Europe.
